Judith E. Tschirgi, Ph.D.

Judy Tschirgi joins Workplace Relationships after more than 25 years in technology management and development, the last 6 of which were with SEI Investments as Chief Information Officer. Her executive experience covers a range of functions from R&D to product management to corporate technology strategy.

As Chief Information Officer a member of SEI’s executive committee, Judy was responsible for the firm’s corporate technology strategy and supported the development, maintenance and servicing of the technology platforms. Her work supported business solutions for both institutional and private banking clients.

From 1995 to 2001 Judy was with SEI’s Investment Services and Systems (IS&S) product group responsible for the development and product life cycle management of the firm’s Open Architecture technology, middleware products, and workstation/web technology. During this period, she also initiated and supported several women’s networks, and served as a corporate mentor to both men and women.

From 1979 to 1995 Judy was with AT&T Bell Laboratories (currently Lucent Technology). At AT&T she was Director of the Advanced Speech Technology Department, responsible for new product development and R&D in various speech technologies. While at AT&T she received both the Arno Penzias award for successful technology transfer and the AT&T Architecture award for new product development. Judy was an early advocate for women in the workplace serving as a corporate speaker throughout the ‘80s and early ‘90s on numerous topics including sexual harassment and gender differences. She led the development of an innovative program for mentoring women and minority staff that was adopted across the Switching Business Unit.

Judy brings a powerful combination of senior executive experience, technical insight and dedication to the advancement of women in business to Workplace Relationships. Her innovative perspective on program development, expertise in evaluating psychological and technical tools and dedication to supporting a best practices approach to executive coaching are widely respected throughout both the academic and professional communities.

Judy received her BA from Stanford University in 1975 and received her Ph.D. from the University of California, San Diego, in 1979, both in Experimental Psychology. Her expertise was in the development of logical reasoning and she has published in both psychology and marketing journals.

Judy is a member of the Board of the Economy League of Greater Philadelphia. She is an executive committee member of the Board of Trustees of the Mastery Charter Schools in Philadelphia, and on the Board of Directors of the Peoples Emergency Center in Philadelphia. She was an IT Fellow within Temple University’s Fox School of Business and Management, and a member of the Fox School’s Management Information Systems Advisory Board.

Judy’s husband, Stephen Hoch, is the Patty and Jay H. Baker Professor of Marketing at the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania. They have two daughters. In her spare time she and her husband are avid gardeners. Their garden has been featured in the Shipley School’s Secret Garden Tour and the Riverbend Environmental Center’s Pond Tour.
